A MAN has been arrested in connection with two car fires on a Warwick housing estate at the weekend.

Tom Michael Weedon, 21, from Leamington Spa, has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and arson.

A 22-year-old man, who has not been named, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Several 999 calls were made at around 5am on Saturday, 2nd April, to reports of two cars on fire in Yeats Drive on the Chase Meadow estate, one in the road and one on a driveway.

Two fire engines from Leamington and one from Kenilworth attended, as callers were reporting the fire was spreading to a nearby house.

Firefighters were at the scene for around three hours where no one was injured.

Replica gun seized

Also at the weekend, police and emergency services also swooped on a block of flats in the Coten End area of Warwick on Sunday morning where there were reports of a man in his 70s acting aggressively with a replica firearm.

Nobody was injured in the incident, which began at 11.30am, a Warwickshire Police spokesperson said.

Police tweeted at 7.30pm on Sunday, describing a safe ending to the incident.
