Prime Minister announces EU referendum date

The Home Secretary Theresa May will be among the high profile politicians campaigning to stay in the union while Justice Secretary Michael Gove is one of those backing the campaign to leave.

David Cameron has already said he will fight to convince the public that staying in a reformed EU is right for Britain and warned that leaving the EU would be a 'leap into the dark'.
