STRATFORD Sharks are celebrating after claiming third place in the first round of the National Junior League at Nuneaton.

The competition is targeted at the younger age groups and it always attracts a number of noisy parents and grandparents to shout and scream from the stands.

Sharks bagged bronze, finishing behind the powerhouse clubs of Boldmere and City of Coventry.

The team claimed six individual golds, with Leah Bowen claiming first in both backstroke and freestyle.

Isla Hirst and Elizabeth Hunt won golds in the butterfly, while Cassie Lea led the way in the backstroke.

The sixth gold arrived thanks to the 10 year girls 4x100m freestyle relay team.

Junior performance coach, Yvonne Caswell, said: "I'm not sure that we have ever had such a bunch of passionate swimmers."
