VIDEO: Tranquility garden opens at Stratford Cemetery

CIVIC dignitaries and members of the public attended the recent official opening of the Tranquility Garden at Stratford Cemetery.

The garden has been designed to offer people the chance to reflect and remember loved ones in a peaceful and natural environment.

A key focal point for that reflection is a swan in restful pose as so often seen on the River Avon and so closely associated with Stratford around the world.

Town clerk, Sarah Summers, said: “The council is forever mindful that those visiting the cemetery are generally bereaved, and whatever the stage of their grieving process, they all care passionately about the final resting place of their loved one.

“Consequently, as the burial authority, we were intent on creating a peaceful and serene place for visitors to reflect and remember those who are no longer with them.

“We believe that the Tranquility Garden within Stratford Cemetery on Evesham Road, admirably fulfills the criteria set down, and is a true reflection of our original aspirations.”

The official opening on Saturday, 20th May, was one of the earliest engagements for Stratford’s new mayor Cllr Victoria Alcock.
