A man from Birmingham was arrested at the scene, and later released on investigation.
All the weapons seized, many of which were found inside large boxes, came from one stall at the market. The weapons will now be analysed by police weapons experts.
Sgt Simon Ryan, the supervisor of the Stratford, Wellesbourne and Southam SNT teams, said: “Make no mistake these were dangerous weapons and they only have one intention. It’s the beginning of an investigation and we need to ascertain if any others were involved. We’re working with the market authority to understand if he is there regularly and if there are any concerns.”
The operation was led by the Wellesbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) with assistance from Stratford SNT, firearms experts within Warwickshire Police Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) and the Warwickshire Police Special Constables unit.
Police have encouraged anyone with information about the sale of weapons at the market to call police by dialling 101.
Sgt Ryan added: “We work with the community and we’ll take action.”
