A special family celebration marked the re-opening of St Peter’s Chapel at Holy Trinity Church recently following its £50,000 refurbishment.

Work has been ongoing at the chapel since January and guests of honour at the reopening on 31 March were Reg and Margaret Sweet, 80 and 82, who were married in the chapel exactly 60 years before.

If the day were not memorable enough for the Stratford diamond couple, the first service was led by their daughter Lynette.

Reg said: “It’s certainly very special that our daughter led the service. Everyone has worked very hard to get the chapel ready for us, it’s fantastic.

“Some of it is the same as when we were married here, but it was a totally different altar. It’s great to be back here.”
