On Wednesday bandmembers will be back in Shipston for the Carolling Around the Streets concert. Then on Friday it’s back to Stratford for more Carols for Shoppers when the band will be providing entertainment at Bell Court on Friday from 11am to 1pm. The brass band has been performing annual Christmas concert in Shipston for more than 50 years, was forced off the concert stage due to Covid restrictions in March 2020. But the popular local band continued rehearsing and recording music virtually in the months of lockdown before beginning outdoor in-person rehearsals during the summer. On Sunday the band played its first concert of the season at Townsend Hall in Shipston.

Musical director Howard Gibbs said: “It’s been a hugely significant moment for the band. We have been unable to perform publicly for a very long time, but we have kept rehearsing as much as we can. The Christmas concert was a great opportunity for all our players to perform on stage together and we were delighted.”

The band was able to take part in Oxford and District Brass Band Association contest in October, held in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, in which it was placed second.
