Looking north for Founders' Lecture

THE Stratford-upon-Avon Art Society’s annual Founders’ Lecture takes place on Thursday, 12th May, at at the Shakespeare Centre, Henley Street, Stratford.

Vivien Heffernan will present an illustrated lecture on the Uniqueness of Scottish Paintings — 1870 to Present Day.

In this fascinating period of Scottish art, Vivian will cover the Glasgow Boys with their distinctive style, The Scottish Colourists, and Scottish contemporary pieces.

This lecture will be accompanied by extensive illustrations of the works of many well-known Scottish artists giving local art lovers a rare opportunity to experience this dynamic period in Art history.

Vivien has been an art history tutor for, among other institutions, the Continuing Education departments of Essex and Cambridge Universities and is a longstanding lecturer for the Open University.

She has wide experience as a freelance lecturer since 1988 for NADFAS and has lectured for affiliated societies of NADFAS in Australia and New Zealand.

She is also a practising artist. The evening is open to the publi, with tickets £6 from the ArtsHouse box office, Society members, or at the door. The doors open at 7.15pm.
