Here come… The Addams Family!
THINGS have been getting mysterious and spooky at Stratford School as students prepared for the arrival of the Addams family.
A wonderful cast that spans all year groups have worked together to bring the story of love, lies and a dinner party.
Wednesday Addams, played superbly by Year 7 student Lily-Mae Dalleau-White has arranged for the family of the boy she loves to come to dinner to meet her rather unusual family.
Her mother, Morticia (Daniella Burridge), thinks it is just a normal dinner but Wednesday confides to her father, Gomez (Daniel Smith), that this is the boy she really loves. What follows is a web of intrigue, creepiness and surprises!
Lily-Mae’s voice as Wednesday Addams belies her years as the power she puts into her singing takes the audience by surprise and weaves a wonderful thread through the play.
The comedic acting of Daniel along with Daniella, and the supporting team of Alin Costea (Pugsley), Jay Bluck (Fester), Orla Fallon (Grandma Addams), and James Wheeler (Lurch) means that the views are kept enthralled the whole way through.
Combined with the wonderful portrayal of the hapless Beineke family by Jay Jap (Lucas), Mai-Li Yap (Alice) and Christian Clements (Mal) the whole story is brought to life.
The students’ involvement is not confined to the stage alone, all the supporting music is performed excellently by students and all the technical sound and light is done by Stratford School’s student tech team, who have built up a vast array of skills by working on many of the previous school’s performances and events.
The Curriculum Leader of Performing Arts, Morgane Kertrestel, said of the play: “It has been a lot of hard work but we have been inspired by the dedication and talent of the students involved.
"From auditions through to the performances, they have given it their all and we are extremely proud of them. It has been a real team effort and it is wonderful to see the audiences enjoying it so much.”
