Henley Arts4All goes ahead in April
MUSIC, history, drama and comedy are celebrated during a week-long series of events in Henley next month.
For the second year running, Henley Guild Hall Trust is putting on Arts4All week.
Beginning on Monday, 23rd April, with a thought-provoking Wartime Experience exhibition, the event ends on Sunday, 29th April, with a stand-up comedy night featuring popular comic Gerry K.
Sandwiched between this are 17 other events, including storytelling with John Kirk, a St George’s Day Vaudeville Theatre evening with Madeline Brown, and the Bianco Barbershop Quartet.
On Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evening there’s a chance to see the premiere performance of Lucky Dip, a dark comedic mystery written by Henley’s own Ray Evans. On Wednesday there’s an opportunity to see the preview of Edinburgh Festival show, Murder and Living by Proxy, which is inspired by the true story of Gypsy who is imprisoned in a world of fantasy, invalided and infantilised by her mother Dee Dee until an online boyfriend offers her a way out.
Best known for his work with Ocean Colour Scene, Andy Bennett takes to the stage on Thursday evening at 7.30pm with a special guest to be announced.
On Saturday evening there’s a chance to see Beyond The Barricade perform in St John’s Church. The troupe of professional singers, including past principal performers from Les Misérables, has delighted audiences throughout the UK and mainland Europe for more than a decade performing songs from musical theatre productions.
Arts4All Week 2018 bows out with a bang on Sunday, 29th April, when local musicians showcase their skills ahead of headline act Ralph Allin Jazz Quartet. Virtuoso jazz violinist Ralph has toured internationally with Van Morrison, and played with the likes of Jools Holland and Andre Previn, and played Ronnie Scott’s and Royal palaces, playing privately for both Prince Charles and the Queen.
Poetry, daytime craft workshops and a behind-the-scenes look at Come Dine With Me ensure that there’s something there for all age groups.
