OVER 40 local artists and craftspeople will be selling their creations at the annual arts fair at Stratford Town Hall next weekend.

In its fifth year, Discover:Gather:Give #Cafdgg opens with a private view on Friday, 1st June*, and continues from 10.30am to 5pm on Saturday (2nd), and from 10.30am to 4pm on Sunday (3rd). Between them the artists will be exhibiting more than 500 pieces of original and passionately created art, offering an exciting and eclectic mix of paintings, illustrations, ceramics, jewellery, glasswork, textiles, paper cutting, sculpture and bookbinding.

Curator, Judith Layhe-Cook, says: “Our artists have been chosen to provoke thought, to stimulate imagination, to make you quiver with longing, challenge, soothe and to calm. Our aim of #Cafdgg is to exhibit a wide range of styles and genres so that each of our visitors and collectors have a chance to fall in love with the art. “We never know what visitors have in mind, as last year we had a Proposal Jigsaw commissioned [a jigsaw that spelt out ‘will you marry me?’ when completed] and happily the wedding will take place later in the year.” The Golden Cup Café will be open, “so you can decide on what to buy and for whom” says Judith. The café serves tea, coffee from Monsoon Estates Artisan Coffee and cakes by Knead It! Bakery, served on a collection of elegant vintage golden crockery.

Judith tells us that the Discover:Gather:Give #Cafdgg is proving so popular another is planned for November.

  • Please note the dates published in the Stratford Herald of 24th May were incorrect. Cafdgg runs from 1st to 3rd June.
