LUNA and the Moon Rabbit by Camille Whitcher is the winner of the inaugural Stratford-Salariya Picture Book Prize, a competition held by the Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival and Salariya Book Company to find a picture book by an unpublished author/illustrator.

The book was officially launched at an event Stratford ArtsHouse last week.

Inspired by the stories her Japanese grandmother told her as a child, Luna and the Moon Rabbit is Camille Whitcher’s debut picture book. She is a graduate of the Cambridge School of Art, where she studied Children’s Book Illustration. She was previously a TEFL teacher in Tokyo and London.

Camille is also influenced by Asian folklore and the films of Studio Ghibli, which she weaves into this magical tale of a young girl who befriends a giant rabbit who lives in the Moon; together they embark on a night-time adventure through dreamy landscapes.

The Stratford-Salariya Picture Book Prize 2018 is currently open for submissions. For further information visit: www.stratlitfest.co.uk - where you will find a full programme for the festival. Camille will be appearing at the Stratford Literary Festival on 29th April.
