Battle Proms to go with a bang
THE Battle Proms Picnic Concert will return to Ragley Hall, Park and Gardens tomorrow (Saturday 13th August).
Last year the picnic concert saw a record breaking crowd of more than 7,000 attend the evening of classical music, Spitfire and cavalry displays, cannon fire and a firework finale.
Television and radio presenter, author and celebrated compère Pam Rhodes will host the concert and The Rockabellas, will warm up the audience.
Conducted by Douglas Coombes and performed by the New English Concert Orchestra, the orchestral programme will include classical favourites, from Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, to a sing-along finale packed with favourites such as Jerusalem, Land ofHope and Glory and Rule Britannia. Accompanying the orchestra will be the soprano Denise Leigh.
Gates open at 4.30pm, entertainment begins from 6.20pm and the event finishes at 10.30pm.
Additionally, Pam Rhodes will be inviting audience members to participate in the #22PushUpChallenge, to raise awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) amongst veterans and veterans’ mental health issues in general.
The organisers hope to reach out to more veterans to let them know about the support that their charity partner, Combat Stress, provides to those who have served their country.
The #22PushUpChallenge is a social media challenge started in the US, in which people record a video of themselves completing 22 push ups every day for 22 days, posting the video and stating which cause they’re pushing for.
