A dramatic proposal

SARAH Plowright, who runs the ArtsHouse Drama Club, was in for an unscripted moment during the club’s recent production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Her partner, Aaron Bixley, head of drama at The Croft School, made a surprise proposal of marriage to her onstage after the Saturday matinée in front of the cast and a full house of 300 people.

Sarah told Herald arts: “Jude, our son who is 11, was in on it too. He was the ring bearer, and unbeknown to me the ring and the box had been under my nose the whole time, as it was being used as a prop in the show!

“Aaron had been working backstage but turned up on stage in a smart jacket with a bunch of flowers, which I thought was for my birthday.” Luckily a delighted Sarah reports that she happily accepted. Our hearty congratulations to Sarah and Aaron from all at the Herald!
