This hindrance proved no problem for Wright though, with the Stratford AC runner finishing almost 20 minutes ahead of her nearest lady rival.
This was the fourth time Wright has competed in the event and the third year in a row that Wright has finished in the top eight overall.
Fellow Stratford AC runner Tim Hutchinson followed Wright home in ninth place in a time of 2.29.11.
This was despite his calf going after four miles and having to run through the pain barrier for the last 14 miles.
Lisa Dallison, also of Stratford AC, was 14th lady to finish and 49th overall in 3.11.49.
The overall race was once again won by Cirencester’s Wyclef Forbes in a course record time of 2.04.44.
