WELLESBOURNE took over as the new leaders of the Cotswold Hills League Premier Division after sending previous pacesetters Lapworth to their first defeat of the season.

Sean Hopwood and Chris Evans both snapped up three wickets as Bourne skittled the hosts for 103 in 39.1 overs.

Darren Mole (40) and Jamie Maynard (35 not out) then steered the champions to a nine-wickets victory in the 33 over.

Norton Lindsey chased down their target with some devastating batting to defeat hosts Alcester & Ragley by nine wickets.

All six Norton bowlers were among the wickets as hosts Alcester reached 160-9 off their 45 overs.

Tim Foster (38) and Darren Kok (32) led the batting.

But Norton’s openers Gavin Shephard (59) and Steven Rushton (55) put on 96 for the first wicket as they cruised home, reaching 161-1 off 27.4 overs.

Neil Wilson starred with bat and bowl as Shipston bounced back from the previous week’s humbling defeat with a 70-runs victory against visitors Tanworth and Camp Hill.

Wilson top-scored with 83 as Shipston reached 216-7.

Then he took five wickets for the first time for the club, finishing with 6-39 off his ten overs as Tanworth were all out for 146.
