Weekend football round-up
Holgate finished superbly after punishing a defensive mix-up from Chris Allen’s long ball forward by taking control and guiding a right-footed half-volley into the net from 20 yards.
Chippenham looked the brighter side in the opening stages, and Holgate should have had second but Town clawed their way back to level.
Andy Kemp’s free-kick was nodded back across goal by Liam Francis and Ahenkorah was again the right man in the right place to tap home from six yards.
Adams said: “Chippenham are undoubtedly one of the best sides we’ve faced so far so to come back and earn a draw after being 1-0 without having had a kick shows what we’re capable of.”
In the Midland League Division One, Jordan McKenzie grabbed ten-man Racing Club Warwick’s injury-time winner to defeat rock-bottom Bolehall Swifts 3-2.
Luke Malley and Ashley Buswell put the Racers 2-0 ahead after just 12 minutes but Leo Thompson’s double levelled matters. It got worse for the hosts when Chris Heyden was sent off but they snatched the winner five minutes into injury time.
Littleton’s push for the top stuttered with a 4-2 defeat at Leicester Road which meant Littleton slipped to fourth in the table. Jamie Clarke and Chris Conway netted for Littleton.
Southam United’s woes continued as they crashed 5-0 at Pilkington XXX, having had two players sent off. It means the Saints have shipped 12 goals in two games, following the midweek 7-0 rout at Nuneaton Griff.
Griff continued their free-scoring form after sending Studley to a 3-0 defeat. Luke Shorthouse and Ryan Slinn put the hosts 2-0 ahead at half-time and Aden Moore notched the third.
Earlswood Town could not build on their first point of the season last weekend after going down to a 2-0 home defeat to high-flying Rostance Edwards in Division Two. It was their eighth league defeat in nine matches.
FC Stratford led 2-0 and 3-1 but conceded two late goals to lose 4-3 at Northfield Town in Division Three. Daniel Smith scored twice for Stratford with Ash Wilkes also on target.
Shipston Excelsior went down 3-1 at Enville Athletic and Badsey Rangers lost 1-0 at home to Perrywood.
