Weekend football round-up

Stratford are top on goal difference at the expense of previous leaders Leamington Hibernian, whose weekend game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Badsey Rangers were edged out 1-0 at Barton United. Peter Martin got the only goal of the game on 41 minutes.

In Midland League Division One, Southam United went down 2-1 to Atherstone Town in a game switched from Banbury Road to Sheepy Road due to the wet weather.

Alan Miller put Atherstone ahead on 24 minutes, but Southam were back on level terms within a minute through Tunde Ajibade.

The winner arrived in the 60th minute when Matt Archer failed to hold a high cross from the right wing and Liam Bailey was on hand to blast the ball high into the net.

Alcester Town progressed to the semi-finals of the Challenge Vase after coming from behind to beat Boldmere Sports & Social Falcons 2-1 at Stratford Road.

After trailing to a deflected strike, the visitors drew level through Nick Dance before Matt Layton sealed the win from the penalty spot.
