FC STRATFORD slipped to defeat on the opening day of the Total Motion Midland League Division Two season at Boldmere Sports on Saturday.

Nick Ballinger's young side, experiencing their first season at this level following last season's promotion, went down 3-0 to goals from James Sawyer (2) and Reece Gibson.

Ade Luxton made a winning start as Earlswood Town manager as they claimed a 5-3 victory over Lane Head at The Pavilions.

Danny Holliday helped himself to a hat-trick, while there were singles from Luke Williams and Courtney Sowe.

In Midland League Division One, Ryan Reeves' goal couldn't prevent Littleton from a 3-1 home defeat to Lichfield City, while Studley's game against Coventry Copsewood was abandoned after 75 minutes with the score at 1-1.

In the FA Cup extra preliminary round, Racing Club Warwick beat Coalville Town 4-3 in a thriller at Townsend Meadow.

Trea Bertie (2), Marc Passey and Gerard McGahey all netted for the Racers, who will face either Boldmere St Michaels or Malvern Town in the preliminary round.
