WARWICKSHIRE Bears 2 suffered a crushing 65-25 defeat to CSWC Panthers 2 in their National League Division Three semi-final clash at the Worcester Arena.

From the opening tip-off, the Bears were in trouble against a quick and talented Panthers side who were able to cut through a weakened Bears team.

Bears fought valiantly to try and stay within touching distance, but they were no match for the eventual champions.

In the Division One bronze medal game, Bears 2 were edged out 50-48 by Wakefield Whirlwinds.

In a game that saw both teams exchanging the lead throughout, it was the Whirlwinds who took the decisive lead at the end of the last quarter and they were able to hold out to secure the win.

After the final, coach Tom Masterson said: “It has been a disappointing end to such a marvellous season.

“His weekend but I’m still immensely proud of how well the team has done all season.

“This weekend has hopefully shown that we need to start the hard work straight away to get ready for next season and the second division.”

The Bears plan to hold summer training sessions as they bid to recruit for next season’s games in both division one and two, plus also for the women’s team.

The club are also looking to sign young players to also enter a team in the junior league.
