Warwickshire Bears record first win
Dan Gill chipped in with 14 points, with Ian Beach (10), Lee Powell (4) and Mark Butler (4) also on the scoresheet.
Bears beat Shock in the play-off finals last season and the opening quarter at the Swindon venue was a close tussle with the visitors gaining a six-point advantage at the break.
They changed tactics in the second quarter and effectively won the match there with a strong defensive performance that restricted Shock to any real sight of the basket.
After a wobble in the third quarter – Shock won it 11-10 – Bears returned to their effective defensive format to pull away and clinch the points.
They travel again for their next fixture on 31 October at Maidstone Warriors.
Dan Gill (23), Jagdeep Tiwana (10), Rick Powell (7) were the scorers as a depleted second team ran out of steam in the final quarter to lose 47-40 to their Swindon counterparts.
