STRATFORD Town manager Carl Adams criticised his side’s defensive weakness following their 2-1 defeat to Tiverton Town on Tuesday night.

Town dominated the game, but they were undone by a stunning strike from Levi Landricombe ten minutes from time.

It was Stratford’s second home defeat in four days and it has left their hopes of a top-ten Evo-Stik South Premier finish in tatters.

Afterwards, Adams didn’t hold back in his criticism over Town’s performance at both ends of the pitch.

The Town boss said: “How on earth have we lost that one?

“It’s a tough one to take, but I don’t think we were good enough in both 18-yard boxes.

“Defensively, we were weak in the first half, we looked at sixes and sevens at times, and we were also poor in front of goal.

"We had so many good chances — Ben (Stephens) should have had three goals and Edwin (Ahenkorah) should have scored.

“I went mad at them at half-time. I told the lads we’d get it back to 1-1, but we’d lose the game 2-1. I said the defence will let us down and it has.

“I’m gutted and very frustrated as what I thought we could turn into a good week has now been an awful week for us.”

Town are back on the road this Saturday when they go to Farnborough, before returning to the MoodChimp Stadium next Tuesday to face Hitchin Town.
