Town players are fighting for their futures

MANAGER Carl Adams has warned his Stratford Town players that they are playing for their futures.

A disappointing second half of the season has seen Stratford secure just one league victory since January, a run that has seen them go from possible play-off contenders to a side staving off the threat of relegation.

Last Saturday’s win at Poole Town has all but secured a second season in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division, which was the club’s one and only target this year.

But Adams is demanding a strong finish to the season and has laid down an ultimatum to his playing squad.

He said: “I have told my lads that for the last seven games of the season they will be playing for their futures at the club.

“For as good as sitting 16th is in our first year, it’s just not good enough for me.

“I want more. I demand more and if these lads aren’t going to prove it in the next seven games then I will leave them behind.”

Town return to action on Saturday with a home game against ninth-placed Dunstable Town.

Attention then switches to the Birmingham Senior Cup semi-finals on Tuesday, when they take on National League North leaders Solihull Moors.

The winners will face Sky Bet Championship side Birmingham City in the final.
