Thomas Baillie hails belief as Stratford Town earn FA Trophy replay
HEAD of football Thomas Baillie hailed his side's belief as Stratford Town hit back from a goal down to earn a Buildbase FA Trophy first qualifying round replay against Alvechurch.
The teams will meet for a fourth time in cup competitions this season on Tuesday night after they cancelled each other out with a goal apiece from corners at a wintry Lye Meadow on Saturday.
Josh March put the home side ahead in the 26th minute, but Town equalised early in the second half when Mike Taylor headed home Will Grocott's corner.
"It was a hard game on a difficult pitch," said Baillie, whose side have now extended their unbeaten run to eight matches.
"It was disappointing to go one down in the manner we did as it’s never good to concede from a set piece, but we’ve got plenty of confidence after our recent unbeaten run and after we equalised we could have gone on and won while a few weeks ago we might not have had the belief to do so.
"But Alvechurch are a good team with plenty of talented players and they know how to play on this pitch which they do very effectively so I’m under no illusions that it will be anything other than another challenging game for us on Tuesday.
"One factor in our favour is fitness as I thought that we looked stronger than them towards the end, and I must pay tribute to Steve Walker (coach) who has done a tremendous job for us in this respect."
