Teen Smith helps Cookhill to victory in 215-run stand with Alexander

Cookhill 359-2 (20 pts) beat Feckenham 2nds 141-7 (3 pts) by 218 runs
PETE Alexander and Zach Smith both blasted centuries to share in a blistering 215-run second-wicket stand to help table-topping Cookhill cruise to a ninth successive league win.
Batting at three, Alexander smacked 165 not out from 105 balls, including 20 fours and four sixes, and 16-year-old opener Smith hit 105 from 113 balls, with 16 fours, to take Cookhill to 359-2 in their 45 overs at home to Feckenham 2nds in their Worcestershire League Division Seven North fixture.
Alexander has now recorded 503 runs in nine innings, averaging 100.60, and Smith has 427 in ten, averaging 47.44.
Their efforts followed 56 from 44 balls from opener Kenny Hirst, with ten fours, before he fell with the score on 99.
Feckenham always faced a huge task but dug in to finish on 141-7, led by Finn Davies (33) and Nick Fowkes (32). There were two wickets apiece for Smith (2-38) and Andrew Leigh (2-17).
Cookhill, who sit 33 points clear of Old Elizabethans, visit Himley 4ths on Saturday.
Neil Shuttleworth weaved his spin magic to help Cookhill Seconds to a six-wicket win against hosts Belbroughton in Division Nine (North).
Shuttleworth snapped up 5-17 in 7.5 overs and Stuart Tanfield took 2-3 to dismiss Belbroughton for 97 in 27.5 overs.
In reply, Ethan Ashton (34) and Nathan Hill (19) provided a solid base with an opening stand worth 52 runs as Cookhill got home in the 28th over.
