Successful event boosts charity

AFTER the disappointment of cancelling Stratford Golf Club’s most prestigious competition due to bad weather in August, the re-run of the Pragnell-sponsored Am Am was a great success with 34 amateurs lining up with 102 Stratford members.

The team prize was won by Johnathan Jeffs, Roy Summers, Graham Irwin and their invited amateur Shaun Young from Maxstoke Park. The individual amateur prize was won by Ross Overton, from Sherwood Forest Golf Club, with a great score of nett 64. Notable scores were posted by two Stratford members, second-placed Joel Smith (67) and Stephen Creed in third (69).

The competition is now in its 24th year and the feedback from the amateurs has always been positive but this year they were waxing lyrical about the condition of the course particularly the greens.

The day raised £800 for the captain’s charity which is supporting The Welcome Hills School.
