Striker pleased to swap Football League for his ‘home’ at Stratford Town
POWERFUL forward Callum Ebanks admits he is delighted to be reunited with Stratford Town manager Gavin Hurren.
The 20-year-old striker was on loan at the Arden Garages Stadium towards the end of last season but has now signed a contract with the club following his release from League One side Cheltenham Town.
“The club has always been welcoming to me so it’s like coming back home and I’m delighted to get the deal sorted,” he said. “It’s time to make a name for myself away from Cheltenham and get some numbers to my name.
“When we spoke about coming to Stratford, I couldn’t say no because of the help Gav has given me over the years. He helped me develop both on and off the pitch, looking at video clips with me before games and he’s a positive, happy guy which is good to be around.”
Ebanks only played a handful of games for Cheltenham since signing for them in 2020 and has spent much of the past three years out on loan to clubs ranging from National League side Eastleigh to Evesham United and Bromsgrove Sporting where he first linked up with Hurren.
The Birmingham-born frontman added: “When I first came to Stratford I was struggling to score a goal but as the games went on I scored a few more and hopefully I earned the trust of the supporters.
“Scoring goals is all about confidence and as long as you are scoring then everything else is fine – and I definitely plan on scoring more goals this season.
“If we carry on how we ended the season then we will be fine.”
