Adkins is set to make his bow tonight (Tuesday) when the Black Country side face Basford United.

Stratford manager Carl Adams said work commitments meant Adkins, who had played four times this season, could not train regularly at the moment so getting games at Tividale will him stay fit.

“Sam works shifts and at the moment he can’t train Tuesdays so by letting go to Tividale for a spell I’m trying to keep him ticking over,” said Adams.

“He is trying to change his shifts but in the meantime this is a good solution. He is still very much in my plans.”

Gregory made his debut for Dale, who have ex-Town player Chris Sterling in their ranks, on Saturday against Goole in what was his first appearance since injuring his ankle just half an hour in the season opener at Hitchin Town.

“It was his first game for more than two months so he was naturally going to be a bit rusty,” said Adams. “But the more time he gets on the pitch the better he will be.”

Defender Guy Clark is also continuing his rehab after injury with Coleshill Town.

The centre-back, a key figure in last season’s promotion campaign, has yet to play for Town after a summer operation on his foot but he played for 45 minute for the Midland League Premier side last week.

He will be on duty tonight when Coleshill face Hednesford Town in the Birmingham Senior Cup.

“With another month of games at Coleshill, he will getting his fitness back ready to come back to us,” Adams added.

Town have no game tonight after the scheduled Red Insure Cup tie with Kettering Town at the DCS was postponed due to the Poppies being involved in an FA Cup replay.

Town now face Kettering on 27 October, with that night’s match at Dunstable Town being rescheduled for another date.
