Stratford Town make it three games unbeaten with draw at Rushall
STRATFORD Town made it three games unbeaten in Southern League Premier Central with a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Rushall Olympic on Saturday.
Town got off to a flying start when Will Grocott played in the in-form Mike Taylor, who beat the offside trap before slotting home his sixth goal of the season past Pics goalkeeper Joe Slinn.
However, Rushall were back level within six minutes when Danny Waldron out-jumped Ross Etheridge to head home Ash Sammons' corner.
Stratford missed two superb chances to restore their lead before half-time. Jordan Williams had a header cleared off the line, while minutes later a sliced clearance handed an opportunity to Taylor, who fired high and wide.
Town came racing out of the blocks after the restart and regained their lead in the 47th minute when Grocott's free-kick was headed back across goal by Jordan Williams for Lewis Wilson to nod home from close range.
The Pics equalised for a second time on 72 minutes when Ross Etheridge failed to keep out Sammons' 25-yard effort, with the ball trickling over the line.
Town did have a shout for a penalty with eight minutes to go when substitute Kynan Isaac went down in the area, but the appeals were waved away by referee Bradley Hall and Town were forced to settle for a well-earned point.
