Stratford Town let lead slip again in King's Lynn draw
There was little to choose between the teams in an error-strewn first half that saw clear-cut chances at a premium.
Town looked the more likely to break the deadlock though and on 27 minutes they should have taken the lead.
Aaron Moses-Garvey’s teasing cross from the left picked out Mark Magee, but the striker headed straight at King’s Lynn goalkeeper Alex Street.
King’s Lynn had been restricted to various long-range efforts with the best of them arriving in the 35th minute when Sam Gaughran’s rasping drive from 35 yards scraped the bar.
As the second half progressed the game looked destined to finish in a stalemate until Richard Gregory spurned an excellent chance to put Town ahead in the 66th minute.
The striker latched on to a through ball, rounded Street before uncharacteristically directing his effort wide.
Town kept plugging away though and they eventually got their reward five minutes from time.
Jamie Sheldon’s perfect through ball found Magee, who laid it off to full-back Westwood to fire home from 15 yards.
The lead lasted just four minutes. Lee Smith’s free-kick from just outside of the box hit the Town wall and the ball bounced perfectly to substitute Friend, whose shot was deflected in past the helpless James Cutts.
