STRATFORD Town duo Chris Cox and Albi Skendi have been invited on a week-long trial with a League Two club which started yesterday, Monday.

Marauding right-back Cox, who was this season's Herald Player of the Year, and midfielder enforcer Skendi have played an influential part in Town reaching their highest ever league finish in the club's history - fifth in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Central.

It is understood Cox and Skendi are not the only Town players being looked at by Football League clubs.

Cox and Skendi will be looking to emulate the success of Town's top goalscorer last season, Ben Stephens, who went on to sign a contract with League Two outfit Macclesfield and established himself as a regular starter in Sol Campbell's team.

Meanwhile, central defender Jamie McAteer has agreed terms to join fellow Southern Premier Central outfit Barwell. The signing cannot be made official until registration forms are released by league chiefs.
