Stratford regatta hailed a huge success
RAIN failed to dampen the spirits of the many rowers taking part in Saturday’s Stratford Boat Club Regatta when local crews came up against those from further afield, reports Chris Best.
The event was run on the 500m course up the Avon from Holy Trinity Church through to the finish line at the club’s grounds. Crews taking part included those from Evesham Rowing Club, King’s School Worcester Boat Club, Royal Grammar School Worcester Boat Club, Ross Rowing Club, Clifton College Boat Club, King Edward VI Boat Club, Worcester Rowing Club, Monmouth Comprehensive School Boat Club and AB Severn Boat Club.
There were three divisions and 159 separate races starting at 8.30am and running through to 5.45pm. Running a regatta to time is no mean feat and is a tribute to the race organisers.
