Stratford exit Trophy but Bees are buzzing

STRATFORD’S cup hopes are over for another year after being knocked out of the FA Trophy by league rivals Barwell.

A goal from former Bards striker Leroy Lita was enough to secure a 1-0 win for the Leicestershire side at the end of a dour game bereft of chances.

There was success elsewhere though with Studley running out 2-0 winners at previously unbeaten 1874 Northwich in the MFL Premier. Goals from Kyle Moseley and Lewis Gill lifted the Bees to within three points of the play-off places.

In MFL Division Two, Earlswood Town lost out to high-flying visitors Birmingham United 5-1 with Harry Dixon scoring for the home side.

Southam United picked up just their second win of the season in Division One of the Hellenic League, easing to a 4-1 victory at fellow strugglers Newent Town, while FC Stratford saw off Tytherington Rocks 2-1 at the Arden Garages Stadium.

Alcester Town’s perfect record in the Herefordshire Premier League was ended at AFC Kempsey but they remain unbeaten following a 2-2 draw with both Romans goals coming from Jake Wicketts.

And Shipston Excelsior were 4-0 winners at Summertown Stars to keep them in the top three of the Oxfordshire Senior League Division One.
