Stratford cruise to victory to close gap on leaders

STRATFORD closed the gap on Birmingham League Division Three leaders Stourbridge with a comprehensive 167-run victory against Old Elizabethans on Saturday.

The main run-scorers in Stratford’s 281 for seven were Alex Marney (87), Chris Whelan (68) and Declan Waddington (44), while skipper Alex Bastable bowled manfully, taking five for 62 for OEs.

Once again, James Urquhart proved to be Stratford’s main asset with the ball, taking six for 29, as the visitors folded to 114 all out.

Stratford 2nds (203) made it a weekend double with a 32-run victory over Old Elizabethans 2nds (171) at Swan's Nest Lane.
