STRATFORD College staff and pupils will be hoping to be jumping with joy - to watch the wife of one of their sports lecturers competing in the Rio Olympics.

Paul Bradshaw’s wife Holly will be part of Team GB and chasing a medal chance in the women’s pole vault.

As Holly Bleasdale, she finished sixth in the London Games four years ago and after injury problems she is now fully fit and relishing her Brazil experience.

The 24-year-old, originally from Preston, is setting out her target to simply do herself and her husband proud and believes she is in the form needed to get a medal.

Paul Bradshaw is a former international athlete himself, having represented England and Great Britain in the 800 metres.

He has joined Holly in Brazil for the Olympics, with the pole vault qualification rounds taking place next Tuesday. The final will be held on Saturday 20 August.
