Stratford CC slip to defeat against Oswestry

STRATFORD struggled to build on a bright start as they fell to an 81-runs defeat to Oswestry at Swans Nest Lane on Saturday.

The Panthers had the visitors 58 for three and 99 for four but then a 120-run partnership for the fifth wicket helped Oswestry roar back.

Captain Jonathan Miles smashed 72 off 85 balls and Joe Carrasco hit 66 as they finished on 237 for six. Sam Douthwaite claimed three wickets for 38 and Mike Brown 2-52.

Oswestry then limited the hosts to 156 all out, with David Bailey topscoring with 39.

Stratford travel to Stourbridge next Saturday (June 4).

The Seconds were in superb form, rattling up 302-5 in defeating Barnards Green by 74 runs.

Ed Cunynghame led the way with an unbeaten 123 in Stratford’s batting before the bowlers dismissed the hosts for 228.

Josh Hickman, Tom Whitting, Anthony Pratley and Will Noble all took two wickets.
