STRATFORD Town manager Gavin Hurren is calling on referees to give more protection to strikers after he had hotshot Callum Ebanks sent off.
The former Cheltenham Town frontman saw red for his part in a tussle with Alvechurch defender Abel Alabi during his side’s 1-0 defeat on Saturday but the Bards boss said he had sympathy for his player.
Hurren said: “Callum has apologised and he knows that what he did was wrong but players like him need to be given more protection. Against Alvechurch he was consistently being fouled and I felt that the other player should also have been sent off following the incident.
