STRATFORD AC hosted the second round of the cross country season, with a course around the Welcombe Hills.

The Midland Women’s Cross Country League competitors faced two laps of the undulating course, and the men tackled three in the Birmingham Cross Country League.

Cadie Hibberd, back from university, was the first Stratford woman home as the team took 12th place in Division One and fifth in the masters competition, both significant improvements on the first fixture.

Hibberd produced a very strong run from the start, coming 42nd in a time of 30mins 29secs. She returned to Cardiff after the race so she could race for her university team the next day in the Gwent League. She’s obviously enjoying her cross countries.

Sheila Lammas, Fern Hordern and Emily Adams completed the first four for Stratford.

The men’s A team were eighth on the day with a total of 271 points and maintained their position of seventh overall.

Their top four were Josh Newman, Rich Shepherd, Matt Burdus-Cook and Rob Minton.

The B team scored 725 points to finish fifth on the day and move up to sixth overall.
