STRATFORD T-UK hosted the annual Mark Scriven Championships at Stratford Leisure Centre last weekend, a well-supported event which attracts clubs from as far as London and Wales.

The club saw many of its new members compete for the first time in a championship which includes contact sparring.

Master John Archer was so impressed with the quality and the bravery made by some of his new members, he made a special mention to these individuals at a training session the next day.

Competing for the seniors saw England squad members Gilbert Blocksidge, Daniel Holtom, Abbey Saunders, Jason Wright and Alan Smith all walk away with medals after a hard day of competition.

Medal winners for the youth squad were Stratford’s Demi Barnett, Sky Barnett, Billy Barnett, Harry Hancox, Sam McGinn, Agata Pawslowska and Amber Kandola.

The day also saw nine-year-old Sky Barnett win her 100th national and international medal in competition. She was presented with a trophy by Master John Archer in recognition of the milestone.
