Fourth place in New York was result Mahindra Racing have been missing all year, says Coughton's Alexander Sims
ALEXANDERS Sims starred in Sunday's New York City E-Prix as he scored his first ABB FIA Formula E World Championship points since Berlin in May, writes Harry Hibbert.
Saturday marked the ninth time the all-electric series has raced in New York and for Coughton racer Sims, it proved to be a strong start to the weekend after qualifying in sixth place.
Despite a lot of promise going into the race, it was red-flagged with just over ten minutes left of the 45 due to heavy rain, which caused a multiple-car collision on track.
Sims ended would end in a disappointing 14th.
However, on Sunday, after a fantastic second place in qualifying, the 34-year-old was able to convert this into a fourth-placed finish in the race, worth 12 points.
"I'm pleased to bring home good points for the team," said Sims.
"It's the result we've been missing all year. To be able to hold our own at the front shows what we are capable of."
Next up on the Formula E calendar is a trip to London for another double-header weekend on Saturday, 30th and Sunday, 31st July.
