WELLESBOURNE showed why they are the reigning champions after a devastating bowling display demolished visitors Shipston in the Cotswold Hills League Premier Division.

Chris Evans (3-15) and Tom Stephenson (3-23) led the Wellesbourne bowlers as Shipston were hustled out for 83 and slipped to a nine-wickets defeat.

Jamie Maynard sealed victory with a mighty six.

Wellesbourne, lying second and one point behind Lapworth, travel to the leaders this weekend.

Third-placed Norton Lindsey stepped up their title challenge with a 70-runs victory against Long Itchington.

Steve Rushton (55 not out) and David MacInnes (20no) put on 70 runs in the final seven overs in an unbroken eighth wicket stand.

Chasing 202 to win, Long Itchington never recovered from losing five early wickets at 58-5.

Alcester & Ragley were left frustrated as Overbury edged past their total with two wickets and nine balls to spare.
