Sharks star at regional open water meeting




A TRIO of swimmers from Stratford Sharks took part in the Open Water Regional Championships which were held at Cotswold Water Park with two of them earning a place in the National finals to be held at the end of this month.

Katie Wilcox was first in the 40-49 age group event over 2km event and Charly Marshall clinched second place for the 19+ age group over the challenging 5km course.

In the 11/12 age group, 11-year-old Beth Robotham finished fifth in the West Midlands Region for the 1km event.

Head Coach Kim Mortimer said: “These results reflect the hard work and dedication of our local swimmers. We look forward to seeing Katie and Charly compete on a national stage and are proud to celebrate their achievements.”

Stratford’s Sharks also took a team of nine to12-year-olds to the third leg of the Nuneaton Junior League where they finished fourth and must now wait to hear which teams have qualified for the final stage in September.

The swimmers were spurred on by the attendance of Sir Finn the Shark who supported from the gallery!
