Search starts to salute district's top sportsmen and women

And, for the first time, the Stratford Herald will be sponsoring the Senior Sports Person of the Year prize.

There will be awards in nine different categories, presented at the annual ceremony, now in its 14 year, on 22 January at the Stratford Manor Q Hotel.

The categories are:

• NFU Mutual Community Award
• The Clubhouse Junior Sports Person of the Year
• Everyone Active Junior Team of the Year
• Fit for Sport Alternative Sport Award
• Senior Team of the Year
• Rybrook Mini Stratford Coach or PE Teacher of the Year
• VASA Volunteer of the Year
• Herald Senior Sports Person of the Year
• Stratford Manor Q Hotel Service to Sport Award

GB archer Caitlin McCarthy was the winner of the 2015 senior sports person award, with athlete Rory Dwyer taking the junior accolade.

All nominations need to be submitted by Friday 20th November and can be made online at www.stratford.gov.uk/sportsawards
