Stratford School quintet in Warwickshire call-ups
FIVE Stratford School students have been busy representing Warwickshire’s county teams.
Kezia Bull, from Year 11, was part of the U16 team and played her first game against Shrewsbury which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Scarlett Burkitt, Chloe Jones, Ella Taylor-Noble and Clara Zaffignani, all from Year 9, were called up to the U14 team and their first match ended in a 4-0 victory over Oxfordshire.
All four of the Year 9 student sselected are also participating in Stratford School’s new football academy qualification in partnership with Stratford Town.
The course is Level 2 and equivalent to a GCSE and is already proving a very popular choice with the school’s male and female elite footballers.
Paul Turrell, who runs the football academy and the girls’ team at the school, said: “We are extremely proud of the girls on being selected to the county teams.
“The school has a history of very strong footballers who have gone on to be signed for major regional teams.
“We also have a particular strength in our girl football teams, having multiple championships to their name including three final and semi-final places in the ESFA championship, which includes one win and one second place.”
The football academy is now recruiting interested students for its 2023 course but it’s still not too late to join this year’s intake.
