Saturday's race meeting at Stratford abandoned

STRATFORD has been forced to abandon its race meeting on Saturday as parts of the track remain waterlogged.

With the River Avon having burst its banks on 9th March, the adjacent racecourse was left to bear the brunt and the course has failed to recover in time for this weekend.

"The track has not dried back any further in the last 24 hours and unstable patches make it unfit for racing," said clerk of the course, Nessie Lambert.

"We are forecast a further 6mm of rain on Thursday and 3mm on race day, making the

decision clear."
