“I’m immensely proud of their record, as is everyone within the club,” said Rance.

“It’s easy for clubs, especially clubs at our standard, to heap all the praise on the first XV but the second XV are a huge part of the club.

“If the first XV is the shop window of the club, showing other clubs and the RFU how we fare, than the second XV is our stock. Without good stock, the shop window can look pretty bare.”

- As part of the development of the club, Stratford are looking to appoint a head of ladies’ rugby at Pearcecroft.

It follows on from the success of the women’s touch rugby team, crowned North East Midlands League champions, and Stratford are hoping to introduce a women’s contact team.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic coach,” said Rance.
