Earlswood Town players keen to keep unbeaten run going, says boss Tom Reynolds
MANAGER Tom Reynolds says his players are “desperate” to keep Earlswood Town’s unbeaten run going after the goalless draw with Alcester Town made it eight games without defeat.
With just nine games down, the Earls already have over half their entire points tally from last season’s ninth-placed finish.
And their run of good form has seen them being nominated for the Midland League Division Two team of the month award for the second month running.
Currently sitting sixth in the table with four wins, four draws and just the one defeat, Reynolds says the Earls are proud of their unbeaten run and want to keep that going.
“I think it shows just how far this club has come to be disappointed with a 0-0 draw against Alcester Town,” he told the Herald.
“Saturday was a game where both sets of defences were on top and the attackers were stifled, so in the end I think a draw was a fair result.”
Reynolds added: “It’s nice to have accumulated so many points already but you always get greedy and there’s been times where we felt we could have come away with all three points.
“There’s been a few draws and then there was the total capitulation at Bolehall Swifts on the opening day where we were 2-0 up but lost 4-2.
“We’ve got a few injuries, though, so it’s nice to see other players stepping up in their absence. We’re proud of this unbeaten run we’re on and I know the players are desperate to keep it going.”
Meanwhile, the Romans have now lost just one of their last five league outings and the point picked up on Saturday moved them up to seventh place.
They welcome eighth-placed Fairfield Villa to the Stratford Road Ground on Saturday, while the Earls will be looking to make it nine games without defeat when they make the trip to second-bottom Boldmere Sports & Social Falcons (both 3pm kick-offs).
