Silk has played first XV rugby for a number of seasons after coming up through the junior ranks at the club.

He most recently claimed the most improved player at last season’s awards night.

He takes over the role from Max Biltcliffe who led the side to their highest league finish last season, and Silk hopes to capitalise on this and build momentum starting with pre-season in a couple of weeks.

Silk showed his commitment to the side last season after being a prominent figure in the team and continuing to support on the sidelines when he was plagued with injury.

Sam Fell is staying on as second-team captain for another year and after continuing to do a stellar job at rallying numbers to field a side out throughout the season.

Meanwhile, the RFU have made what they call ‘the most significant changes made to the competition structure in 30 years’ by changing how the adult male game is structured for the 2022-23 season.

As a result, Alcester’s previous league of Midlands Three West (South) has now been rebranded as Counties Two Midlands West-South.

The Red and Blacks face a trip to Tenbury for the first game of the season on 3rd September in this new structure.
