Race meetings at Stratford and Warwick abandoned as rain continues to cause chaos
STRATFORD’S meeting on Saturday has become yet another casualty of the recent deluge of rainfall.
The wet weather forced the racecourse to make an early decision about the meeting and clerk of the course Nessie Lambert tweeted: ”In consultation with the BHA Inspectorate Saturday’s meeting @stratfordraces has regrettably been abandoned. The track is waterlogged with no chance of recovery in time #anotheronedown.”
Meanwhile, Warwick’s Thursday meeting has also been abandoned after failing a 2pm Wednesday inspection.
The racecourse tweeted: “Unfortunately our St Mary's Lands Cup Raceday has been abandoned.
“With some standing water and false patches of ground remaining in the back straight and the weather forecast showing continued rain throughout this afternoon the decision has been called following our 2pm inspection.”
