Pyott in the dugout for vital Earls win
EARLSWOOD Town stormed back to winning ways in Division Two of the Midland Football league by hammering ten-man Littleton at The Pavilions.
Goals from Joe Kelso, Harry Dixon, Harry Street and Luke Woodward saw The Earls kickstart November in style having experienced a miserable October.
This was Earlswood’s first win in six weeks and a much-needed clean sheet having shipped 17 goals in their last four games.
With manager Joel Hughes absent, assistant Jason Pyott took charge from the dugout and, right from the off, The Earls looked eager to bare their teeth right away.
With Keelan Reilly going close on two occasions, Kelso eventually found the breakthrough with a deflected effort from distance in the 23rd minute.
The hosts were temporarily down to ten men with Reilly sent to the sin bin in the 36th minute but it failed to impact Earlswood’s momentum.
In the 41st minute, in-form Dixon raced through to bag a trademark goal and register his 13th goal in as many games.
Dixon started the second-half on the receiving end of an opponent’s elbow; an act that saw Tim Beatie given his marching orders.
From that moment, Littleton – who dished out a 6-0 beating at home to Earlswood earlier in the season – never looked likely to get back into this one and captain Street added a third in the 56th minute.
And Woodward rubber-stamped the convincing win by thumping home from close range after the goalkeeper had fumbled an excellent in-swinging corner from the left.
In the Premier Division, there were mixed fortunes for Studley who bounced back from a weekend defeat to win in midweek.
On Saturday the Bees were beaten 3-0 at Whitchurch Alport but a goal from Leo Wood in the opening minute proved enough to secure a 1-0 win at Shifnal Town on Tuesday.
There was no shortage of goals in Division One of the Hellenic League where FC Stratford ran out 5-3 winners at lowly Carterton while Southam United lost 4-0 at leaders Droitwich Spa.
Shipston Excelsior stormed to a 6-0 victory over Kea FC in Division One of the Oxfordshire Senior League where Nick Walker led the way with a brace.
Substitute Adam Garmson came off the bench to score a hat-trick as Alcester Town beat Westfields Reserves in the HFA Charity Bowl, Dan Murphy with two of the others.
